Practices and Games

There will be NO practice on March 12th due to Spring Break.
Games will be every other Saturday.

Thanks to everyone who showed up for registration last week, it was great to see everyone! We look forward to another fun season of soccer! We are very excited by the large number of kids we have signed up! We've divided the kids into 3 age groups for practices and games.

**I don't have your paperwork yet. So please bring with you, or see me at practice to fill out.

Practices will be Thursdays at the park at 4. All kids will strech and do an opening run together, then break into age groups for drills. With so many kids we will need some help running drills and managing crowd control. If any of the parents are willing to help, it would be greatly appreciated. No skills are required, Dave can talk you through what needs to be done. Please let us know if you are willing and able to help out. Also, balls are not required, but with our larger numbers we no longer have a 1:1 ratio of balls to kids. SO if you do have one already on hand please bring it to practice. Make sure to write your name on it, so it doesn't get lost or misplaced. Shin guards are also recommended and can be purchased for around $6 in most sporting departments. Only required item is a water cup/bottle for the kids to take water breaks. We will have a big water jug available at all practices and games for fill ups.

A big thanks to everyone for coming out to our end of seaon party! We had lots of fun and hope you and your families did too! Thanks to everyone who contributed to the gift basket, it was very thoughtful! And one more thanks for sharing your kids with us, because lets face it without them we couldn't of had a soccer team! Thanks to everyone for a such a great season! We had our last practice yesturday and it was a blast! We did individual pictures of all the kids there. I hope I spelled everyone's name right...if not PLEASE let me know, so I can fix it! If you weren't there don't worry we will catch you for pictures on game day November 1st. We will also do a "BIG" picture with the whole team that day too!

As a reminder there will be no practice next Thursday October 30th so we can all make it to Halloween parties! We will have our last game of the season next Saturday November 1st.

Thursday Novemeber 6th we would like to invite all soccer players and their families to meet us at the park for an end of season party. We will meet at our usual practice time, 4pm. We are planning on doing a pot luck early dinner, so please bring something to share. We will be presenting the kids with little awards and planning for our spring season. We hope everyone can make it!

First Practice

We are looking forward to Thursday and having our first practice! The weather forecast says, scattered showers...unless it's pouring at 4pm we are planning on being there.

A couple of things:

1. It's hot! Please send your kids with a cup/sports bottle. We will have a cooler of water there and plan on having the kids take water breaks.

2. Make sure the kids are wearing appropriate clothing and shoes for practice (shorts, t shirt, socks, tennis shoes) and make sure it's something that's OK to get dirty (since the field might be muddy).

3. This first one will be a judge of how long the practices will be...we are thinking 45 min -1 hour, but it really will depend on the kids attention span. Feel free to bring a lawn chair and watch, or there is a playground if you have other kids that aren't in soccer where you can play. Or if you need to run you are welcome to drop off your kids too (just let us know ahead of time).

4. You will be respnsible for shin guards for your kids. Other than that, all other equipment for practices and games will be provided, so you don't need to bring anything.

Welcome to all our friends who have joined us in this endeavour. Our goal is to create a FUN, non-competitive atmosphere where all children can learn and play soccer.

After researching the area for youth sports to put our own children in, we were very put off by 1. the competitiveness (especially at such a young age) and 2. the price.

That is when we decided to give this a try. So we hope you can be patient with us as we are learning how it all works. Also, know that we are open to suggestions at anytime, so please give us your feedback on what we are doing, and how we can improve.

We are grateful to all of you who have gladly jumped on board and offered your support! Thank YOU! We look forward to getting to know you and your children better over the coming months.

We've posted the tentative practice, and game schedule off to the side and will keep this up to date. The plan as of now is practice Thursday's at 4pm, and a game every other Saturday at 9am through the beginning of November.

At this time we ask that you contact us (comment, email, or phone) to let us know if you plan on having your child(ren) participate in the program, so that we can get an official head count. Thank You!
